Meet the Founder

 Hi there, I'm Kamille, and I'm so glad you've found your way to our little shop.

I discovered soapmaking at 19 years old after my father took me to a boutique in Newport News, VA. I had never used bar soap before, but instantly fell in love with their Oatmeal, Milk and Honey Soap.

The sweet and nutty scent ensnared my senses and my skin was so soft after using it.

I soon became hyper-fixated on bar soap and went down a rabbit hole of how to make it.

 

The first time I ever made soap I was terrified (see below picture), but eager. It was so different from anything I'd done before, but after my first batch I was hooked.

Since then I've been making soap for my loved ones as a way to express how deeply I care about them. Soap is my love language, and I'm sharing it with you.

Throughout all of my trials and tribulations, soapmaking has always been a constant and something that I look forward to doing.

I've never lost my passion for it or sharing it with others.

Then, after hearing from my family and customers  how much my soaps have helped people with skin conditions like eczema or dry-skin, I knew it was a way for me to make a small difference in peoples lives. 

I knew from a young age I was put on this earth to empower people and help them realize and embrace their own light.

It is my hope that by giving you my light, your own light will bloom, and you will share it with those around you. That is the mission of Ilawan.

If our products, blogs, or posts can brighten your day and make you feel empowered just a little, then I've accomplished my mission.
